1967 Volvo 1800S VIN 182451M 22656

Good looking and handling, always California daily driver, customized by the long time owner (since 1968) with many modifications. These include the engine, suspension, exterior and interior. The engine was rebuilt, bored to B20 with “D” cam, rebuilt SU carbs on aluminum intake manifold and tri-Y exhaust header, as well as replaced clutch and rebuilt overdrive. These were done about 50k miles ago. The distributor was changed to a point-less Allison (now Crane) ignition system. The suspension has heavy duty IPD sway bars front and rear as well as Bilstein shocks and very nice GB 8 spoke alloy wheels. These 15 x 5 ½” wheels are shod with 195/65 Hankook tires which are about 4 years old. All this transforms the car into a very nice handling touring car, that runs well. Total mileage is about 225k miles. Having not been driven much between 1995 and 2006, it is now road ready with recent brake system service including new hoses and wheel cylinders and a complete flush of fluid. A new battery was installed and other fluids were also replaced. Instruments and switches are working except for clock.

Body has some minor rust showing under the paint in the typical areas behind the wheels and lower valance under the rear bumper. The undercarriage is very solid, with some surface rust in places, but no structural damage. There is some water damage in the trunk due to loose water drain hoses. The hood hinges have frozen due to long periods of non use which caused damage to the hood inner structure. These need to be repaired. The original light green paint was changed a couple of times, most recently (1991) in favor of a dark metallic grey which still looks good with the grey interior. The original black front seats were changed to fully adjustable Recaros for better support and comfort. These are in good condition except for a large worn off section on the drivers left shoulder. The other interior panels were also redone in matching grey colors. Dash fascias have a wood veneer applied over the stock aluminum finish. Exterior bumpers are straight and were re-chromed, but are starting to show some bare metal and rust in some areas.

Overall this is a good looking, fun car to drive with a lot of good enhancements which can use some tlc to bring it back to its full potential. The repair history is listed in the spreadsheet below.

This is a consignment sale for our customer. We have inspected this car at our shop and test driven it.
